Abstract: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, causes chronic inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract, leading to intestinal damage and low bone mineral density (BMD), increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. A total of 3,178 articles were analyzed, of which 241 were randomized controlled trials, and 25 were selected after exclusion of duplicates and adequacy to the proposed theme. Vitamin D deficiency is common in IBD patients due to poor nutrient absorption and reduced sunlight exposure. Studies show that vitamin D supplementation can improve BMD and reduce disease activity, with genetics playing a role in the response to vitamin D and predisposition to low BMD. An integrated approach is essential to improve the quality of life and clinical outcomes of these patients, highlighting the importance of correcting vitamin D deficiency in managing IBD.
