Abstract: Cognitive decline in the elderly is a growing issue impacting health and quality of life. Understanding its definition, risk factors, and warning signs is crucial for early interventions. The study highlights the importance of cognitive health in later life, revealing how chronic diseases, low physical activity, and social isolation contribute to this decline. The impact on the quality of life of older adults is significant, with the relationship between cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases emphasizing the need for vigilance. Prevention strategies, such as regular physical activity and social support, are essential to mitigate the effects of decline. Awareness and education on this topic are fundamental to empower individuals and families, fostering an environment conducive to cognitive health.
