Abstract: Throughout history, humans have developed and refined tools that, over time, became integrated into daily life. Today, digital technologies have become indispensable, and social media platforms like Instagram, initially seen primarily as entertainment tools, have emerged as valuable pedagogical resources. In the educational context, these platforms can support active methodologies, fostering a more participatory and collaborative learning environment. This article reflects on the "art of teaching" in the digital age, analyzing the challenges and possibilities arising from the integration of social media and active methodologies in education. The study investigates the challenges educators face when incorporating innovative pedagogical practices widely shared on social media, examining the cultural, structural, and formative influences that generate resistance. Despite the abundance of inspiring examples of active methodologies that could enrich learning in the early years, many teachers encounter difficulties in applying these ideas in their classrooms, which directly impacts the educational outcomes of children. Contemporary pedagogical culture requires teachers to acquire new skills and reassess their practices to effectively integrate digital tools into their teaching methods. Social media platforms like Instagram have the potential to transform teaching approaches by promoting a more collaborative and innovative model, with new forms of student interaction and engagement. This study explores the factors preventing early years teachers at a public school in Santa Catarina from adopting social media-inspired active methodologies and how these practices can impact teaching dynamics and student development.
