CULTURA MATERIAL E CONSUMO ALIMENTAR NA BELLE ÉPOQUE CARIOCA (1904-1914)
O propósito deste artigo é discutir e analisar a relação entre cultura material e consumo alimentar na belle époque carioca. Busca definir o termo belle époque e delimitar o período que se propõe a chamar de belle époque carioca. Debate a disciplina de cultura material visando esclarecer sua postura mais ampla e não apenas materialista. Apresenta o consumo alimentar como sujeito histórico alimentador da cultura material. Reproduz registros do jornal O Paiz para sustentar a análise realizada. Conclui que cultura material e consumo alimentar não são antagônicos, mas são importantes peças para se entender a sociedade carioca nos seus belos tempos, nos primeiros ventos da modernidade.

Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to discuss and analyze the relationship between material culture and food consumption in belle époque carioca. It seeks to define the term belle époque and to delimit the period that it proposes to call belle époque carioca. Discuss the discipline of material culture in order to clarify its broader and not just materialist stance. It presents the alimentary consumption as historical subject feeder of the material culture. Shows registers from O Paiz newspaper to support the analysis performed. It concludes that material culture and food consumption are not antagonistic, but they are important pieces to understand carioca society in its beautiful times, in the first winds of modernity.
