Abstract: The present work is part of a study that adopted as its object a set of texts published in books, periodicals and other forms of printed matter in the nineteenth century (1848) and aims to think of such productions as pedagogical literature. It is a theoretical study of analyses produced by researchers on the subject seeking to list possibilities of using the periodical press as a resource for studies in the field of the history of education, as well as to know research methodologies. From the nineteenth century onwards, different types of printed matter were disseminated as a means of disseminating ideas on various topics as well as those related to education. Thus, it is possible to identify in various publications of the period historical aspects that characterize education in this context and recognize them as objects of research according to the notion of pedagogical literature.
