Abstract: The aim of this work was to study the importance of the multidisciplinary team in palliative care for elderly patients, highlighting the performance and perception of these professionals in this type of care. This article is an integrative literature review of an exploratory nature on the importance of the multidisciplinary team in palliative care for elderly patients, focusing on the performance and perception of this team in this process. Data collection was carried out in virtual databases, using the following information bases: LILACS, SciELO and PubMed, in the period between July and August 2023, using the following descriptors: “palliative care”, “elderly”, “interdisciplinary team”. Adopting as inclusion criteria complete texts, written in Portuguese and English with an approach to the established theme, published in the last 10 years (2013-2023) and as exclusion criteria texts that were not presented in full, written in other languages or that did not address the established themes and those prior to 2013 in a clear and elucidative manner. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 28 articles were selected. Through the studies analyzed, it was observed that multidisciplinary action in palliative care for the elderly allows the combination of several interdisciplinary skills from several professionals, aiming to help the patient adapt to the changes that occur due to pain and/or illness, providing an important reflection about coping with the disease for both the patient and family members. This joint action of professionals who work in healthcare helps the patient to be understood in several aspects: organic, psychological, physiological, providing more comprehensive and humanized care. The study found that palliative care for elderly patients cannot be considered without the existence of a multidisciplinary team, and that there are many actions and perceptions of these professionals when providing this type of care.
