CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS: A PERCEPÇÃO DE FAMILIARES DE PACIENTES INTERNADOS EM UNIDADES DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA
É no ambiente da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva que muitos indivíduos vivenciam os limites entre a vida e a morte. Como forma de atenuar o sofrimento e proporcionar dignidade e qualidade de vida aos indivíduos doentes e seus familiares vivenciamos hoje os Cuidados Paliativos. Objetivo: Identificar a compreensão dos familiares de doentes em Cuidados Paliativos internados em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva Adulto (UTI) sobre a gravidade do estado de saúde do seu ente querido e analisar sua percepção sobre os Cuidados Paliativos. Metodologia: Pesquisa qualitativa realizada com familiares de pacientes em Cuidados Paliativos internados em UTI Adulto. A coleta de dados foi realizada entre o período de 15 de março a 31 de maio de 2019 e os dados obtidos analisados segundo o Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo (DSC). Resultados e discussão: Foram realizadas oito entrevistas, a partir das quais foram construídos quatro DSC agrupados nas seguintes categorias: o estado de saúde comprometido; suavizando o termo morte; percebendo os Cuidados Paliativos; Cuidados Paliativos? Em cada uma dessas categorias foi possível analisar a percepção dos familiares quanto à gravidade do estado de saúde do ente querido, o distanciamento do termo morte favorecido pelo uso de eufemismo e a representação dos Cuidados Paliativos na UTI. Considerações Finais: Apesar de não ser mencionada a palavra morte, esse processo não deixou de ser lembrado e representado pelos familiares entrevistados. Mesmo no auge do uso de aparelhos altamente tecnológicos na saúde, o cuidado humanizado do doente e dos seus familiares é instância primordial a ser fortalecida e o conhecimento sobre os Cuidados Paliativos deve ser divulgado e exercitado.

Abstract:
It is in the Intensive Care Unit environment that many individuals experience the limits between life and death. As a way to alleviate suffering and provide dignity and quality of life to sick individuals and their families, we currently experience Palliative Care. Objective: To identify the understanding of family members of patients in Palliative Care admitted to Adult Intensive Care Units (ICU) about the severity of their loved one's health status and to analyze their perception of Palliative Care. Methodology: Qualitative research carried out with relatives of patients in Palliative Care admitted to an Adult ICU. Data collection was carried out between the period of March 15th to May 31st, 2019 and the data obtained analyzed according to the Collective Subject Discourse (DSC). Results and discussion: Eight interviews were conducted, from which four CSD were constructed, grouped into the following categories: compromised health status; softening the term death; realizing Palliative Care; Palliative care? In each of these categories, it was possible to analyze the perception of family members regarding the severity of the health status of the loved one, the distance from the term death favored by the use of euphemism and the representation of Palliative Care in the ICU. Final Considerations: Although the word death is not mentioned, this process was remembered and represented by the interviewed family members. Even at the height of the use of highly technological devices in health, humanized care for patients and their families is a primordial instance to be strengthened and knowledge about Palliative Care must be disseminated and exercised.
