Abstract: This article addresses the significant process of pharmaceutical care in monitoring patients with drug treatment. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a national health problem that affects a large part of the Brazilian population. Therefore, the objective of this work is to demonstrate how the care of the pharmacist as a health professional can be exercised in any place where the user may have access to medications and be exposed to risk and the consequences of misuse or lack thereof, aiming to contribute to the treatment and adherence of these patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2). This research aimed to demonstrate aspects of the benefit of integrating Pharmaceutical Assistance with the patient and how clinical pharmacy works, being carried out by the method of bibliographic review with a descriptive, exploratory approach, for the collection of materials the following databases were used with Google Scholar, Manuals of the Ministry of Health, Virtual Health Library, Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Brazilian Diabetes Society. Aspects such as patient education, medication monitoring and the promotion of an integrated approach will be discussed, highlighting the importance of the pharmaceutical consultant in the care dedicated to diabetics.
