Abstract: Care for the parturient bitch encompasses the gestation, delivery, and postpartum periods and is essential for maternal health and litter viability. In the prenatal phase, gestational diagnosis, estimation of the expected delivery date, nutritional management, sanitary control, and fetal monitoring are key to preventing embryonic losses and complications. During delivery, close observation of physiological stages allows early identification of dystocia and timely medical or surgical interventions when needed. In the postpartum period, the main aspects include clinical evaluation of the dam, adequate colostrum intake by the neonates, prevention of mastitis and uterine disorders, as well as balanced nutrition and a hygienic environment. Thus, careful management throughout all stages is crucial to reducing obstetric risks and ensuring reproductive success.
