Abstract: The Macadamia nut crop in Brazil is considered as one of the Minorcrops, belonging to Group 1 and subgroup 1B, according to the Conjoint Normative Instruction 01 (June, 16th 2014) updated by Act 69 (October, 1st 2019). Therefore, significant attention has been devoted to presenting alternatives for effective and registered control (chemical and biological) of macadamia pests. In addition to the entomofauna present in the national producing areas, great concern is also directed towards the exotic pests which affect this nut crop abroad and have great potential to imminently enter the country. The InsetoNut Project of Embrapa identified the macadamia nut borer (MNB) Cryptophlebia ombrodelta Lower, 1898 (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) as one of the main pests of macadamia abroad and as an absent quarantine pest (AQP) in Brazil. The territorial zoning map of Brazilian areas suitable for this AQP, made available by the same project considering macadamia among eight host crops, included São Paulo State as a favorable area. The present study has prospected, in international literature, information about the AQP C. ombrodelta, identifying alternatives for the control and also thermal requirements of the pest. The latter enabled numerical estimates of the development of the AQP under thermal conditions of three municipalities of Sao Paulo state, considering their respectively maximum and minimum monthly temperatures, from the period of 2000 to 2021, retrieved from data of Meteorological Data Bank of INMET. The obtained results contribute to the minorcrops, focusing on the national macadamia nut crop, and to public policies of phytosanitary defense, focusing on the prevention of the introduction of the AQP in the country.
