CRUZAMENTO DE DADOS COMO FERRAMENTA DE PROSPECÇÃO DE RISCO GEOLÓGICO EM ÁREAS URBANAS
Uma das mais importantes questões referentes à atuação de geólogos é a utilização do conhecimento científico na gestão dos riscos associados a Movimentos de Massa (MdM) que com constância afetam cidades brasileiras. Existem dificuldades a serem superadas, sendo uma das maiores, a reunião de dados acerca do conjunto de acidentes, que venham a orientar a análise de risco. Outra questão é que há poucos profissionais envolvidos neste tipo de trabalho, já que são poucas as prefeituras municipais que contam com geólogos em seus quadros. Isso não cria muitas oportunidades para inspeção e estudo dos MdM, comuns e recorrentes no meio urbano. A utilização de uma metodologia que pressupõe o uso de informações disponíveis e sua análise estatística, pode contribuir para que essa questão seja minimizada.

Abstract:
One of the most important questions regarding the performance of geologists is the use of scientific knowledge in the management of risks associated with mass movements (MdM) that constantly affect Brazilian cities. There are difficulties to be overcome and one of the biggest is the gathering of data about the set of accidents that will guide the risk analysis. Another issue is that there are few professionals involved in this type of work, since there are few municipalities that have geologists in their staff. This does not create many opportunities for inspection and study of common and recurrent MDGs in the urban environment. The use of a methodology that assumes the use of available information and its statistical analysis can help to minimize this question.
