Abstract: The objective of this work is to discuss the importance of digital technologies during the teaching and learning process in Early Childhood Education. Early childhood is crucial for brain development and the formation of connections essential for adaptation and intelligence. Through studies carried out in the discipline “Digital Information and Communication Technologies in Basic Education” offered by the Postgraduate Program in Teaching for Basic Education - Unesp - Bauru, this text has as its methodological path the analysis of the work “The factory of digital cretins: the dangers of screens for our children” written by Michel Desmurget (2021), who points out that the impact of screens starts early and can be harmful and its relationship with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, 2018), which treats play, exploration and social observation are vital for children's growth. According to Kishimoto (2003), direct interaction in reading activities, games and games is essential for developing skills in society. Despite the challenges presented by the excessive use of technology, teachers recognize that the presence of these tools in children's lives is inevitable. Therefore, the teacher must act as a mediator, integrating moments of coexistence and play with technology.
