Abstract: The present study focused on the theme Economic Growth in Mozambique: Challenges of Sustainable Development in Tete Province 2024-2025. The central problem lies in the dichotomy between the growth model based on the primacy of extractive sectors and the need for inclusive and sustainable development. Thus, the guiding research question was: To what extent does the economic growth model permit or compromise the achievement of sustainable development objectives in Tete Province during the 2024-2025 period? The General Objective aimed to analyze economic growth in Mozambique in light of the challenges of sustainable development in Tete province, with specific objectives to describe economic dynamics, characterize sustainability challenges, and discuss their interrelationship. Methodologically, a qualitative approach with explanatory objectives was adopted, utilizing bibliographic and documentary research for data collection and thematic content analysis for interpretation. The Results revealed that Tete's growth, although strong, is exclusive and based on the extractive matrix. Concurrently, sustainability challenges intensified, manifesting as severe water pollution, heightened social inequality, and fragility in governance transparency. In Conclusion, the evidence indicates that the growth model based on extractive primacy compromised the full realization of sustainable development by converting economic success into environmental damage and reconfiguring poverty into inequality, reinforcing the urgent need to decouple prosperity from degradation.
