Abstract: This article aims to present some of the beliefs about the teaching of grammar in relation to the English Language teaching-learning process. This is an exploratory-descriptive research, of a qualitative nature. The place where the research was carried out were two public schools, part of the State Education Network, in a municipality located in the interior of the state of Goiás. Structured interviews with six questions were used as a data collection instrument, which was applied to five teachers of the English discipline of both institutions. The data were analyzed following the guidelines of Gil (2008). The results point to beliefs that consider the teaching of grammar to be the best, if not the only, way to teach English Language, in a formal classroom context. It is concluded, however, that it is possible to apply English grammar in a more enjoyable way for students, using more active methodologies, playful activities and technological resources.
