CONTRIBUIÇÕES PARA A UTILIZAÇÃO DE ENERGIA GEOTÉRMICA O BRASIL
Existe um cenário estabelecido em que a necessidade de se aumentar a participação das fontes de energia renováveis na composição da matriz energética mundial para fomentar um desenvolvimento económico e social sustentável, em estrito respeito ao meio ambiente, bem como de elemento atenuante para as alterações climáticas, confronta-se com a pressão da demanda pelos usos de recursos naturais gerada pelo inerente crescimento da população mundial. Nesse âmbito e no intuito de melhor satisfazer o binómio do desenvolvimento económico social e proteção do meio ambiente, resta enaltecida aquela fonte de energia devida ao calor proveniente do interior da terra, a geotermia. Para além de ser renovável, limpa e possuir restritos impactos ambientais, a energia geotérmica apresenta uma taxa de disponibilidade ao dispor durante 24 horas por dia (ininterruptamente) ao longo de todo o ano. Nessa essência, o presente trabalho depois de uma breve referência sobre a necessidade de energias renováveis, apresenta alguns aspetos básicos concetuais e técnicos sobre a energia geotérmica, para numa fase seguinte se dedicar ao potencial geotérmico do Brasil, com apresentação sintética das pricipais utilizações. No fim, tecem-se algumas considerações finais no sentido de se incentivar e incrementar a exploração e utilizaçao da energia geotérmica no Brasil.

Abstract:
Into the perspective to increase the renewable energy sources in the composition of the global energy matrix for sustainable economic and social development, in strict respect for the environment, as well as a mitigating element for climate change, is confronted with the pressure of demand by resources generated by the growth of the world population. In this context and in order to improve the economic and social in balance with the environment, come to light the source of energy due to the heat coming from the interior of the earth, geothermic energy. In addition, beyond the fact to being renewable, clean and with restricted environmental impacts, it has a maximum energy availability rate of up to 24 hours a day (uninterrupted) throughout the year. In this essay, the present work, after a brief reference on the need for renewable energies, presents some basic conceptual and technical aspects about geothermal energy, in a next phase to focus on the geothermal potential of Brazil, with a synthetic presentation of the main uses. In the end, some final considerations are made in order to encourage and increase the exploration and utilization of geothermal energy in Brazil.
