Abstract: This article aims to reflect the importance of digital information technologies in the teaching-learning process in light of the contributions of historical-cultural theory. According to this perspective, individuals are active and historical subjects and build their learning path based on a critical reading of the world. By proposing a reinterpretation of physical education and its contributions to an emancipatory education based on the legal frameworks that guide the practices and knowledge of this curricular component, the aim is to highlight the convergence between historical-cultural theory and curricular parameters for physical education, since their practices and knowledge are built from the concept of body culture. Finally, the importance of the digital checkers game is highlighted as an innovative instrument to mobilize students' bodily, cognitive, socio-affective and socio-cultural skills in view of a critical and autonomous education.
