Abstract: Teacher training in Brazil urgently requires ethnic and racial strengthening in terms of the use of knowledge, practices, and insights produced by black intellectuals; this need is pedagogical, social, political, legislative, ethical, among others. In the Pedagogy course, as we are exposed to black intellectuality, we clearly perceive the broadening of perspectives, possibilities for action, and the construction of engaged thinking, in addition to reflections on our identity, self-esteem, and personal, professional, and social training; all of this is a result of access to historically neglected Afro-knowledge. In this context, this qualitative research, anchored in Escrevivência (Evaristo, 2020) and Relato de Experiência (Mussi, Flores, and Almeida, 2021), presents five experiences lived by the authors – three of them about their training in pedagogy as undergraduates and two as teachers in that course – in order to understand the contributions of black intellectuals to training in pedagogy. The main findings reveal that contact with black intellectuals, whether through literature or practical and everyday experiences, has contributed to the formation of these women, who have had their identity processes redefined, placing themselves in the position of black intellectuality and empowerment, strengthening the desire and knowledge for the operationalization of Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations -racial relations, aiming at a significant and intersectional social transformation that finds in education a space-time for revolutions, affection, and reparation.
