Abstract: A multidisciplinary health team is a fundamental approach to promoting integrated care, being a strategy to improve the quality of care and the resolution of patients' health demands. This objective study analyzes the role of pharmacists in multidisciplinary teams, highlighting their contributions to improving the quality of care, patient safety and efficiency of the healthcare system. The methodology adopted was an integrative literature review, with data collection from studies published between 2014 and 2024, in the SCIELO, LILACS, PubMed, Science Direct and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases. Data analysis was qualitative, complemented by quantitative data when available. The results indicate that the participation of pharmacists in multidisciplinary teams contributes significantly to promoting the rational use of medicines, reducing adverse events related to pharmacotherapy and improving adherence to treatment, which reflects in greater safety and quality of care. Careful. However, the study also highlights challenges related to the full integration of the pharmaceutical sector into health teams, such as the underutilization of technical and clinical skills, barriers in interprofessional communication and the scarcity of resources and time. Concluding that the role of the pharmacist in multidisciplinary teams is crucial for optimizing patient care, requiring better coordination between healthcare professionals. Since effective integration is an essential strategy for promoting quality care and care efficiency in the Unified Health System (SUS), contributing to the comprehensive care of patients.
