CONTRA A “MÁ IMPRENSA” A “BOA IMPRENSA”: PERIÓDICOS A SERVIÇO DA IGREJA CATÓLICA
Propõe-se por meio desse estudo
realizar um levantamento sobre a atuação do
Centro da Boa Imprensa no Paraná por meio da
revista curitibana A Cruzada e evidenciar quais
foram os objetivos desse periódico que circulou
entre os anos de 1926 a 1934. No contexto de
criação da revista a Igreja Católica buscava a
reafirmação de seu espaço no Brasil, e dentre
as estratégias utilizadas esteve a criação do
Centro da Boa Imprensa, órgão responsável
por criar e organizar a disseminação de revistas
e jornais a serviço da Igreja. Com o aporte
teórico de Berger (1985), Campos (2010), Dias
(1993) entre outros, buscamos apresentar um
panorama da atuação da Igreja Católica na
imprensa do Brasil no início do século XX. A
partir da análise foi possível apontar que os
periódicos ligados ao Centro tinham o intuito
de propagar as doutrinas cristãs e de combater
movimentos anticlericais que defendiam a
laicidade do Estado.

Abstract:
This study aims to make a survey
about the performance of the Center of Good
Press in Paraná through the curitiban magazine
The Crusade and to highlight which were the
objectives of this periodical that circulated
between the years 1926 to 1934. In the context
of the magazine’s creation, the Catholic Church
sought to reaffirm its space in Brazil, and among
the strategies used was the creation of the Good
Press Center, the regulatory body responsible
for creating and organizing the dissemination
of magazines and newspapers in the service of
the Church.With the theoretical contribution of
Berger (1985), Campos (2010), Dias (1993) and
others, we present an overview of the Catholic
Church’s work in the Brazilian press in the early
20th century. From the analysis it was possible
to point out that the periodicals linked to the
Center were intended to propagate Christian
doctrines and to combat anticlerical movements
that defended the laity of the State.
