Abstract: The field of Collective Health in Brazil has experienced significant growth over the past four decades, driven largely by the active collaboration of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health (Abrasco). In the late 1970s, Collective Health was in the process of institutionalization in the country, despite the presence of diverse theoretical and political perspectives. The Brazilian Congresses of Collective Health, popularly known as "Abrascões", have as their primary purpose to bring together the scientific and academic community, as well as other social actors, to discuss crucial issues in the field of health. This study aims to provide an overview of the Brazilian Congresses of Collective Health held over the past two decades. The first edition of Abrascão took place in 1986, in Rio de Janeiro. The following editions were held in São Paulo (1989), Porto Alegre (1992), in conjunction with the 1st Meeting of Collective Health of the Southern Cone, Olinda (1994) and Águas de Lindoia (1997). Due to the availability of more detailed information, this study will be further explored in the 6th to 13th editions. The ability to articulate science and policy, theory and practice, demonstrates the maturity of the field of Collective health in actively contributing to Brazil's health and social challenges.
