Abstract: The article aims to contextualize the importance of media education focusing on the phenomenon of viral content. The objective is, through research, to raise awareness of the educational importance of the media, in addition to identifying the conception of high school youths at Escola Santa Clara, in Getúlio Vargas/RS, in relation to viral content. In this research, the emergence of Law in Brazil, the formation of the first Bachelors and the respective sources of Law as a science were conceived. In sequence, concepts related to citizenship were addressed, reporting duties and obligations, as well as their multiple dimensions. Finally, it will present the conception of media education alluding and idealizing what viral content is and its importance in contemporary times. Further on, another specific objective is to relate the Law to the good use of citizenship and, in this way, to understand the profound impact of viral contents on social relations, especially for young people, in their educational scope. The deductive method contemplated the theoretical development through books and doctrines and consigned to this, a practical research through an objective questionnaire in "Google Forms", which introduced 3 questions relevant to viral contents. Finally, it is concluded that viral contents end up influencing negatively the exercise of citizenship, however, they positively influence the exercise of freedom of expression.
