CONTEMPLANDO O NASCIMENTO DE JESUS: AS REPRESENTAÇÕES DO ÍCONE DA NATIVIDADE NA ARTE SACRA
O presente texto tem por objetivo apresentar e desenvolver teologicamente os simbolismos presentes na cena do Nascimento de Jesus (Natividade). Para auxiliar nesta tarefa, valemo-nos abundantemente de autores da tradição ortodoxa, que tem os ícones como elemento central em sua fé. Iniciamos a nossa exposição remetendo-nos ao sentido dado por São Francisco de Assis ao presépio, para, em seguida, nos determos no ícone da Natividade escrito por Andrei Rublev, no século XV. O sentido central destes símbolos, naturalmente, desenvolve o significado da Encarnação - testemunhando os dogmas da fé cristã. No ícone, porém, também há a preocupação em mostrar o efeito do Mistério sobre a vida do mundo. Por isso, percorreremos o ícone, em primeiro lugar, desenvolvendo os simbolismos expressos pela figura do Menino Jesus para, em seguida, observarmos outras cenas presentes no ícone. Por fim, notamos que o ícone da Natividade já aponta para a Ressurreição, e que esse mistério não diz respeito apenas ao ser humano, mas remete à toda a Criação

Abstract:
The aim of this text is present and theologically develop the symbolisms in the scene of the Birth of Jesus (Nativity). To assist in this task, we draw heavily on authors from the orthodox tradition, who have icons as a central element in their faith. The first step of our exposition refers to the meaning given by St. Francis of Assisi to the nativity scene; hereafter we dwell on the icon of the Nativity written by Andrei Rublev, in the 15th century. The core meaning of these symbols naturally develops the meaning of the Incarnation itself - bearing witness to the tenets of the Christian faith. In the icon, however, there is also a concern to show the effect of the Mystery on the life of the world. For this reason, we will go through the icon, firstly developing the symbolisms expressed by the figure of the Child Jesus, and then, we will observe other scenes present in the icon. Finally, we note that the icon of the Nativity already points to the Resurrection, and that this mystery does not only concern the human being, but refers to all of Creation.
