Abstract: ABSTRACT: In Brazil, most of the irrigated coconut plantations are of the Dwarf variety, which is more demanding in terms of water and is less resistant to drought than the Giant variety. The coconut tree culture adapts well to several irrigation methods and systems. Among these, dripping and microsprinkler systems stand out as the most up-to-date irrigation technology. Irrigation management is one of the essential factors in optimizing water use. However, for the management of irrigation to proceed within a rational criterion, it is necessary to have control over soil moisture to properly determine the timing of irrigation and the amount of water to be applied. A study was carried out in the municipality of Glória, BA, Brazil, with the objective of studying water consumption with the culture of coconut palms (Cocos nucifera) totaling half a hectare. The spacing between plants in the rows was 7.0 meters and between rows of plants 7.0 meters. The irrigation system was microsprinkler, with one emitter per plant and emitter flow of 70.0 L.h-1. Calculator water depth based on meteorological data and crop coefficient (kc). The timing of irrigation was determined using tensiometry. The production was quantified and the efficient use of water by the dwarf coconut crop was calculated. The average production of fruits per plant was 80 fruits. The average water consumption per plant ranged from 110 L plant-1 day-1 to 130 L plant-1 day-1.
