Abstract: ABSTRACT: In the semi-arid region, the cultivation of 'Tahiti' lime is growing, including large producers and family farmers, due to the good acceptance of the fruit in the domestic market and the great demand in the international market. As this region has the advantage of having edaphoclimatic conditions that make it possible to stagger production throughout the year with the use of irrigation, the exploitation of this citrus species can become a great option for the diversification of fruit growing. A study was carried out in the municipality of Delmiro Gouveia, AL, Brazil, with the objective of studying the water consumption of 'Tahiti' acid lime [Citrus latifolia (Yu. Tanaka) Tanaka]. The spacing between plants in the rows was 1.5 meters and between rows of plants 3.0 meters. The irrigation system was drip, with two lateral lines per row of plants, the spacing between emitters of 0.50 m and emitter flow of 4.0 L.h-1, the total emitters per plant was eight. The water quantity was calculated based on meteorological data and crop coefficient (kc). The moment of irrigation was determined using tensiometry. The efficient use of water by the Tahiti lime were calculated. The average production of fruits per plant was 44 kg, corresponding to 32.6 t ha-1. The average water consumption per plant ranged from 110 L plant-1 day-1 to 130 L plant-1 day-1. Fruit diameter ranged from 48 to 62 mm and mass from 61 to 115 g.
