Abstract: Within the health system, the role of the pharmacist is becoming increasingly important, as they have the ability to improve patient treatment thanks to their extensive knowledge in different areas; however, it is notable that its potential is not yet fully utilized. In this sense, in 2020, the Minas Gerais Regional Pharmacy Council (CRF/MG) regulated the creation of pharmaceutical offices, a milestone that was followed in 2022 by the Federal Pharmacy Council (CFF), enabling pharmacists to work in offices across the country. This initiative had a direct impact on the city of Alfenas-MG, while six clinics were implemented within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS) and the local Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS). During pharmaceutical consultations, the academics involved in the project play a fundamental role, as they conduct pharmacotherapeutic monitoring, promote health education and carry out health screenings, in addition to occasional home visits. Pharmaceutical consultations are scheduled in advance and, during these meetings, academics, accompanied by a faculty advisor, provide care to patients. Over this period, around 800 pharmacotherapeutic monitoring consultations and 900 health screenings were carried out. Thus, the primary objective of these services was to ensure that patients received necessary, effective and safe medication treatment, playing a very important role within the municipal public health system, not only filling a gap in the service, but also contributing to substantial way to provide quality healthcare in the community.
