Abstract: Food production in quantity and quality is a challenge in the pursuit of food safety. In the Missões region of Rio Grande do Sul, commodity crops are predominant, and the fruits and vegetables are developing, leading to a dependence on these foods from other regions. To address this challenge and provide family farmers in the territory with a new source of income while maintaining young people in rural areas, the Federal Institute Farroupilha Santo Ângelo Campus (IFFar-SAN) developed an educational, research, and extension project focused on agroecological food production, using lower-cost and more autonomous ecological-based technologies for family farmers. Through various methodologies such as workshops, seminars, and field days, it was possible to disseminate, among farmers, technicians, and students, a way of producing quality food, aiming for the sustainability of the family-based production system.
