Abstract: To describe an experience report on the construction of an educational health technology for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (UTIP) of a university hospital. Methods: It deals with a description of the first stage of a methodological study, in which a folder was prepared as an educational resource. The steps were: Definition of the target audience and type of educational technology, literature survey for the content of educational technology, writing, sketching, construction, final review and evaluation of educational folder. Results: After the final version elaboration and revision steps, the folder was exposed to evaluate the nursing professionals of UTIP. It is explained that later it is long for the long term to constitute a participatory approach to appreciation and perceptions of the companions and visitors about the product. Conclusion: The limitation of this study was “construction for the other and not with the other”. However, this opportunity to elaborate this material, as a strategy to welcome the companions, evidenced a satisfactory moment, as it was a joint construction process, which contributed to vocational training. The educational material has potential for contribution to the unit's work, that is, it can generate new concepts for the demands of UTIP workers and improvements in relationships with visitors and companions.
