Abstract: Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of nursing personnel about organ procurement for transplantation purposes in the operating room of a second level hospital. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional cohort study. The study population was defined by convenience sampling and 13 nurses working in the Operating Room Service of the General Hospital of Acapulco, Guerrero, from the morning, afternoon and night shifts were selected. To evaluate the variable under study, a 26-item instrument was used, which is part of the research “Nursing participation in the coordination of organ transplants”, with three sections. Results: The overall standard knowledge is medium-low, while in the organ procurement section the most frequent response was almost never based on a Likert scale in 75%. Conclusion: Determining the level of knowledge of nursing personnel about organ procurement for transplantation purposes is relevant since it reflects the importance that they give to the subject in context, the priority that this implies, since there are diverse problems that a hospital treats, diverse types of patients and pathologies, leaving aside organ procurement exposes the low or null activity that this implies, not having nursing personnel who are prepared for these circumstances.
