CONHECIMENTOS CIENTÍFICOS SOBRE AS CATEGORIAS NOMINAIS E ENSINO DA LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA / SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT NOMINAL CATEGORIES AND TEACHING OF PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE
Na formação científica do professor
de Português e na prática pedagógico-didática
por ele realizada, as conexões entre a Linguística
Formal, a Linguística Descritiva e a Linguística
Aplicada assumem, progressivamente, um
papel fulcral. Todavia, o esforço de sustentar
a formação de professores de Português em
conhecimentos (meta)linguísticos atualizados
deve continuar, socorrendo-se, sobretudo,
dos contributos da Linguística Comparativa
entre o Português e as Línguas Maternas
dos aprendentes. Assim, este texto, que se
enquadra no domínio da Linguística Descritiva
Comparativa e da Linguística Aplicada, visa
descrever as categorias nominais género
linguístico e número sintático em Português
Europeu, em confronto com a ausência das
mesmas em línguas de modalidade diferente
em contacto com o Português – o Tétum
e o Caboverdiano. Nas referidas línguas
é exequível comunicar linguisticamente a
categoria sexo dos referentes e a quantidade,
como em qualquer língua natural, uma vez
que estas noções não estão dependentes das
categorias formais género e número, exclusivas
de algumas línguas. Por conseguinte, pretendese
contribuir para a formação do professor de
Português e para as abordagens pedagógicodidáticas
destas categorias, as quais devem
atender a: (i) parâmetros linguísticos específicos
das línguas; (ii) distinção entre categorias
linguísticas e expressão linguística de noções
e categorias naturais e mais motivadas pelo
mundo real.

Abstract:
The connections between Formal
Linguistics, Descriptive Linguistics and Applied
Linguistics are progressively playing a key role in
the scientific formation of the Portuguese teacher
and in the pedagogical-didactic practice. However, the effort to support the training of
Portuguese teachers in up-to-date linguistic (meta) knowledge should continue, mainly
by using the contributions of Comparative Linguistics between Portuguese and the
mother languages of learners. Thus, this text, which falls within the field of Comparative
Descriptive Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, aims to describe the nominal categories
linguistic gender and syntactic number in European Portuguese, in comparison with
the absence of the same in languages of different modality in contact with Portuguese
- the Tetum and the Caboverdian. In these languages it is feasible to communicate
linguistically the category of sex of the referents and the quantity, as in any natural
language, since these notions are not dependent on the formal categories gender and
number, exclusive of some languages. Therefore, it is intended to contribute to the
formation of the Portuguese teacher and to the pedagogical-didactic approaches of
these categories, which should meet: (i) language-specific parameters; (ii) distinction
between linguistic categories and linguistic expression of natural and more real-world
notions and categories.
