CONHECIMENTO DOS CIRURGIÕES DENTISTAS E ONCOLOGISTAS DE SÃO LUÍS/MA SOBRE OSTEONECROSE DOS MAXILARES ASSOCIADA AO USO DE BIFOSFOSFONATOS
Esta pesquisa apresenta cunho
transversal descritivo qualitativo e foi realizado
no município de São Luís-MA, com a finalidade
de verificar o grau de conhecimento dos
cirurgiões dentistas e médicos oncologistas
sobre a associação entre a osteonecrose
de maxilares e a utilização de bifosfonatos.
A pesquisa foi realizada com aplicação de
questionário estruturado a 324 cirurgiões
dentistas e 7 oncologistas, sendo os dados
analisados utilizando os recursos do software
SPSS (versão 18.0), e com nível de significância
de 5%. Verificou-se que a maioria dos
cirurgiões-dentistas relatou não saber qual via
de maior risco (42,6%) para o desenvolvimento
da patologia estudada. Entre os oncologistas,
a fratura patológica (40%) foi a sintomatologia
mais assinalada. Dos cirurgiões-dentistas
entrevistados, 63% relataram que conheciam
as indicações clínicas para a prescrição
de bifosfonatos. 57.2 % dos oncologistas
encaminham seus pacientes para avaliação
odontológica antes do início do tratamento
com bifosfonatos e somente 12,3% dos
cirurgiões dentistas relataram ter participado
de uma equipe multidisciplinar no tratamento
da patologia em questão. Conclui-se que, em
geral, é insatisfatório os conhecimentos dos
cirurgiões dentistas e oncologistas sobre a
temática, bem como sobre a necessidade do
atendimento multidisciplinar na prevenção e
tratamento desta patologia.

Abstract:
This research presents a
qualitative descriptive cross-sectional study and
was carried out in the municipality of São LuísMA, in order to verify the degree of knowledge
of dental surgeons and oncologists on the association between osteonecrosis of the jaws and the use of bisphosphonates and
how to handle the pathology studied by the professionals mentioned above. A structured
questionnaire was applied to 324 dentists and 7 oncologists. Data were analyzed using
SPSS software (version 18.0) and the significance level was 5%. It was verified that
the majority of dentists reported not knowing which route of greatest risk (42.6%) for
the development of the pathology studied. Among oncologists, the pathological fracture
(40%) was the most marked symptomatology. Of the dentists interviewed, 63% reported
that they knew the clinical indications for the prescription of bisphosphonates. 57.2% of
oncologists refer their patients for dental evaluation prior to initiation of bisphosphonate
treatment, and only 12.3% of the dentists interviewed reported having participated in
a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of the pathology in question. It is concluded
that, in general, the knowledge of dental surgeons and oncologists on the subject is
unsatisfactory, as well as the interrelation between them in the multidisciplinary care of
the pathology studied.
