Abstract: The present work aims to promote a potential application for sulfide copper residues by incorporating mass fractions of 10% and 20% into a polymeric matrix. The polymeric matrix was prepared using a cobalt accelerator at a concentration of 1.5% v/v, the BUTANOX M-50 initiator, and polyester resin. The fabrication process followed the manual hand lay-up method, and casting was performed with 10% copper, 20% copper, and a pure matrix. After curing the composites, physical tests were conducted according to ASTM D1984-92 to determine water absorption (WA), apparent porosity (AP), and apparent specific mass (ASM). For the impact test, ASTM D6110-18 was adopted. In the physical tests, the composites did not show significantly different results compared to the polyester matrix. However, there was a decrease in WA and AP, while ASM increased according to the addition of sulfide copper in the matrix. In the impact test, the composite acted as reinforcement, achieving a 22.29% increase compared to the polymeric matrix. KEYWORDS: Polymeric composite; industrial residue; manual fabrication.
