Comportamento ingestivo, síntese microbiana e balanço de nitrogênio de novilhas Nelore suplementadas com glicerina bruta

• Abstract:

  This study aimed to evaluate the

  inclusion of crude glycerin in the diet of Nellore

  heifers grazing Brachiaria brizantha during

  the dry season, on the concentrations of urea

  in urine and plasma, feeding behavior and

  microbial protein synthesis. Sixty Nelore heifers

  with initial average weight 285.89 ± 18.74 kg

  and approximately 19 ± 2 months of age were

  distributed in a completely randomized design,

  about 5 treatments and 12 repetitions: 0.00;

  4.00; 8.00; 12.00 and 16.00% of crude glycerin inclusion in the diet of heifers. Grazing

  time showed linear decrease (P < 0.05), for each percentage of crude glycerin included

  in the diet, a reduction of 7.44 min was observed. Microbial efficiency had no effect

  (P > 0.05), with a mean value of 113.73 g of CP per kg TDN intake. The nitrogen

  concentration in plasma had no effect (P > 0.05), so having a mean value of 13.11 mg

  dl-1. Supplementation of heifers during the dry period with 0.7% PC with use of crude

  glycerin in the composition of the diet to 16.00% provided no positive responses to

  feeding behavior and had little influence on the microbial synthesis.
