Abstract: Cardiac catheterization is a key diagnostic and therapeutic tool, but not free from complications. This comparative review analyzed 25 recent scientific studies addressing major adverse events related to the procedure, with emphasis on coronary dissection and thrombosis. Technical, pharmacological, and anatomical factors were discussed, as well as prevention strategies and clinical management. The analysis showed that appropriate device selection, imaging guidance, and personalized anticoagulation are essential to minimize risks. Although multifactorial, complications can be significantly reduced through combined preventive measures and individualized protocols. It is concluded that, despite technological advances, the safety of catheterization relies on technical expertise, patient-specific evaluation, and ongoing scientific updates by healthcare teams.
