Abstract: Digital competencies have become one of the fundamental skills to achieve high standards in student learning, as they promote the development of research skills that enable access to knowledge. Thus, this research aimed to determine the influence of digital competencies on research skills in a sample of university students from a private university in Lima, Peru. The method used was descriptive, with a quantitative approach, basic research type, and a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 250 students, who were given two questionnaires. The data were analyzed using a structural equation model, through which this influence was tested. Additionally, the correlations between the dimensions proved to be positive and significant. These results allowed for the establishment of the importance of digital competencies in the development of research skills, and universities should consider developing programs aimed at improving these competencies and skills as one of their central objectives.
