Abstract: Food security, physical activity, and dietary diversity are key factors for the health and well-being of populations. In Costa Rica, the cantons of Guácimo and Vázquez de Coronado show socioeconomic differences that may influence these factors, necessitating a comparative analysis to understand their impact on residents' quality of life. Objective: To analyze the relationship between food security, physical activity, and dietary diversity in the cantons of Guácimo and Vázquez de Coronado, aiming to identify patterns and propose strategies that promote healthy habits. Method: A quantitative, cross-sectional study using structured surveys administered to a representative sample in both cantons. Variables related to food availability and access, physical activity levels, and dietary variety were assessed. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Results: Significant differences in food security were found between the cantons, with greater vulnerability in Guácimo due to economic and food access factors. Regarding physical activity, a high percentage of the population does not meet the minimum recommendations set by the WHO, posing a health risk. Additionally, dietary diversity was limited in certain population groups, particularly in lower-income sectors. Conclusion: The results highlight the need to strengthen public policies that ensure equitable access to healthy food and promote physical activity in both communities. It is recommended to develop nutrition education strategies and intervention programs tailored to the socioeconomic characteristics of each canton to improve residents' quality of life.
