Abstract: Iron deficiency anemia is a globally prevalent health condition, affecting diverse demographic groups, including children, reproductive-aged women, and the elderly. In Brazil, statistics indicate high prevalences, especially in the Northeast, Southeast, and South regions. Symptoms of iron deficiency anemia, such as fatigue and weakness, can have significant impacts on the quality of life and productivity of the population. Regional data analysis reveals disparities in the incidence, mortality, and costs associated with iron deficiency anemia. The Northeast region tends to have the highest rates of hospitalization and mortality, while the South and Southeast regions have higher average hospitalization costs. Additionally, annual fluctuations in hospitalization and mortality rates suggest variations in treatment effectiveness and public awareness. Public policies are essential to prevent and control iron deficiency anemia, including food fortification programs, iron supplementation, health education, and population screening. Strategies aimed at improving equitable access to healthcare, especially in remote and economically disadvantaged areas, are necessary to ensure that all individuals receive proper diagnosis and treatment.
