Abstract: This work presents a comparison between planar monopole antennas with circular and hexagonal geometry, operating at ultra-wideband frequencies, indicating the compression factor due to the change in the antenna structure. The planar monopole antennas are built in FR4 dielectric, a low-cost material, and the simulation is carried out using the commercial program ANSYS. When comparing the simulated and measured results of circular and hexagonal antennas, it is possible to evaluate a variation in the first resonance frequency of 18.8%, circular geometry, and 21.1% for hexagonal geometry. The variation between simulations and simulations may be related to the difference in the permittivity of the dielectric material and electromagnetic interference from applications operating at close frequencies, which are more observed in the hexagonal antenna that obtained a more compact structure, difference in bandwidth between the simulation and from the measurement of 7.8% of the simulation to the measurement, with a reduction in the radiating element of 64%, and of 29% in the total length and 40% in the total width of the antenna.
