Abstract: In this article, I will seek to show how metaphysics is a speculative science which is distinct from the other speculative sciences, which are natural science and mathematics, by examining what Thomas Aquinas teaches in the Commentary on the De Trinitate of Boethius and in the Prologue to the Commentary on the Metaphysics. In the Commentary on the De Trinitate of Boethius, I will examine all the four articles of question 5 and a part of the first article of question 6. I will adopt in this whole study the model of interpretation regarding Thomas Aquinas that is called Aristotelian-Thomism. Thus, in the conclusion, I will expound the commentaries made by two authors who are considered Aristotelian-Thomists, Leo Elders and the Dominican William Kane, regarding the discovery of the object of metaphysics. With this, this article is part of an Aristotelian-Thomist introduction to the metaphysics of Thomas Aquinas.
