Abstract: This article presents and discusses the methodology used in a research whose main objective was to study the organizational climate of two high schools in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The study has the need to associate the socio-political/critical perspective as a methodological possibility of analysis of the school organization, through the analysis of its climate, presenting as problematization the following concern: What are the assumptions and methodological techniques that best serve the need to evaluate the organizational climate of the school in this perspective? The study articulates its reflection based on the theoretical support of studies by Dubet (1994) who deals with the issue of experience and coexistence in the school environment, as well as by Brunet (1995) who emphasizes the importance of studying school organizations in a critical way.The main conclusions of the study suggest that the methodological redefinition, with regard to the study of the organizational climate, corresponds positively to an attitude of epistemological openness to the analysis of reality, demonstrating that the search for solutions and the confrontation of everyday problems is a factor that mobilizes from the sharing of the social experience by the subjects.
