Abstract: Currently, the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery has undergone many changes thanks to technological advances. These developments have brought significant improvements to procedures, making surgeries safer, faster and with better results for patients. Modern equipment, new techniques and a more detailed inspection of the patient's general and local health are being used. An example of this is the use of advanced images and computer-generated planning, which greatly assist in simulating and organizing surgeries. In recent times, this type of technology has been widely used to study the structures of the face and skull, which makes it easier to predict how the surgery will turn out. In addition, with the help of 3D printing, it is possible to create necessary guides and custom-made parts for each patient. This article aims to present in general terms what 3D printing is and how it is being used in maxillofacial and oral surgeries. In addition, we gave our opinion on the use of these technologies and highlighted the main cases in 3 | Página which they are applied. It is concluded that using 3D printing directly at the place where the patient is treated, or that it is also becoming common in this area of dentistry.
