CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE – NARRATIVAS QUE ROMPEM COM AS FRONTEIRAS DA IDENTIDADE
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie é
uma escritora nigeriana em ascensão no
cenário literário ocidental que escreve sobre a
África em uma perspectiva transcultural, sob
a qual as diversas identidades dos sujeitos
africanos são compreendidas nas relações
de alteridade, ela escreve também sobre os
conflitos pessoais dos indivíduos marcados
pela experiência da independência e pela
influência externa da modernização. Adichie é
hoje uma das vozes do continente africano na
tentativa de desconstrução dos estereótipos
acerca de seu povo. Instigadas pelo diferencial
da escrita literária de Adichie, no qual ela busca
questionar as fronteiras desenhadas entre as
raças, os gêneros e as nações, é que propomos
o presente artigo. Seus romances não se focam
necessariamente na nação nigeriana póscolonial, mas sim em experiências de sujeitos
nigerianos, principalmente mulheres nigerianas
que vivem em um mundo global e transnacional,
moldado pela imigração e, por conseguinte, em
questões de raça, relações de gênero, amor e a
ocidentalização imposta pelo neocolonialismo.
Nessas narrativas as personagens lutam para
criar suas próprias identidades sem se limitar
pelas definições ocidentais. Este estudo contou
com o aporte teórico de autores como Hall
(2014), Bahbah(2009), Emenyonu (2006),
Nnolim (2009) entre outros.

Abstract:
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is
a rising Nigerian writer in the Western literary
scene who writes about Africa in a crosscultural perspective, under which the diverse
identities of African subjects are understood
within relations of otherness, she also writes
about the personal conflicts of individuals
marked by experience of independence and the
external influence of modernization. Adichie is
today one of the voices of the African continent
in the attempt to deconstruct the stereotypes
about its people. Instigated by the differential of
Adichie’s literary writing, in which she seeks to
question the boundaries drawn between races,
genders and nations, we propose the present
article. Her novels do not necessarily focus
on the postcolonial Nigerian nation, but on the
experiences of Nigerian subjects, especially
Nigerian women living in a global and transnational world, shaped by immigration and
therefore on issues of race, gender relations, love and the Westernization imposed by
neocolonialism. In these narratives the characters struggle to create their own identities
without being limited by Western definitions. This study relied on the theoretical support
of authors like Hall (2014), Bahbah(2009), Emenyonu (2006), Nnolim (2009), among
others.
