CENTRO DE MEMÓRIA E DE PESQUISA HISTÓRICA DA PONTIFÍCIA UNIVERSIDADE CATÓLICA DE MINAS GERAIS (1989-2009): 20 ANOS DE HISTÓRIA
A preservação da memória é um tema amplamente debatido na contemporaneidade. A necessidade de se proteger a memória está pautada na preocupação com a salvaguarda de informações. Seguindo a tendência de instituições de grande porte, a Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais cria o Centro de Memória, iniciativa que visava a guarda e a organização dos registros da trajetória da Universidade. Por outro lado, institui-se também o Centro de Documentação e Pesquisa Histórica, um laboratório para o contato dos estudantes de História com uma das possibilidades que o futuro ofício oferece. A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar a trajetória do Centro de Memória e de Pesquisa Histórica, desdobramento do Centro de Documentação e Pesquisa Histórica somado ao Centro de Memória, utilizando o recorte entre 1989, data da criação do setor, e 2009, ano em que completou 20 anos de existência. Para tanto, a metodologia utilizada inclui pesquisa bibliográfica e consulta aos documentos disponíveis no Departamento de História, na Reitoria e no Centro de Memória e de Pesquisa Histórica da PUC Minas, além da utilização da História Oral para a realização de entrevistas, que contam com a participação de sujeitos envolvidos na sua estruturação. O estudo contribui para compreender o objeto do presente trabalho enquanto lugar de pesquisa e de memória.

Abstract:
The preservation of memory is a theme widely debated in contemporary times. The need to protect memory is based on the concern to safeguard information. Following the trend of large institutions, the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais creates the Memory Center, an initiative that aimed at keeping and organizing the records of the University's trajectory. On the other hand, the Center for Documentation and Historical Research is also established, a laboratory for the contact of history students with one of the possibilities that the future trade offers. The aim of this research is to analyze the history of the Memory and Historical Research Center, a division of the Center for Documentation and Historical Research added to the Memory Center, using the cut between 1989, when the sector was created, and 2009, when completed 20 years of existence. To do so, the methodology used includes bibliographic research and consultation of the documents available in the Department of History, in the Rectory and in the Memory and Historical Research Center of PUC Minas, as well as semi-structured interviews, with the participation of subjects involved in its structuring. The study contributes to understand the object of the present work as a place of research and memory. -
