Abstract: This work records the internship period at the Anastácio Alves Braga High School, located in the municipality of Itapipoca, Ceará. Developed from September 2022 to December 2023, the supervised internship was the first experience of observing daily school life from the perspective of a future Sociology teacher. The text aims to present some characteristics of the school focusing on its social aspect. In writing this experience report, the cartographic method was used, a practice in which the researcher follows, through subjective experimentation, a process of ongoing experiences. Interviews were carried out with some students highlighting themes considered relevant in this cartography: the view they had of the school before entering it, prejudices, racial and sexual diversity, the relationship between work and studies, etc. As a result, we present the daily life of the school, its student constitution, as well as the challenges of a regular secondary education institution that is committed to “conquering” and “welcoming” students who are sometimes at risk of dropping out of school.
