CARCINOMA EPIDERMÓIDE DE LÍNGUA: A IMPORTÂNCIA DO CONHECIMENTO DO CIRURGIÃO-DENTISTA NO DIAGNÓSTICO PRECOCE
A língua é considerada o local mais
comum de manifestação do câncer de boca. Esta
malignidade da boca incide mais em homens
que em mulheres e precisa de diagnóstico
precoce. Dentre os principais fatores etiológicos
destacam-se o tabagismo e o etilismo. O
objetivo do presente relato foi descrever uma
caso clínico de uma mulher, leucoderma, de
44 anos de idade, a qual foi acometida pelo
câncer de língua. Chamou atenção o fato de
a paciente ter procurado um cirurgião-dentista
assim que notou o aparecimento da lesão e o
profissional a indicou para um ortodontista, pois
relacionou o aparecimento da lesão na língua
com um trauma dental. O ortodontista iniciou o
tratamento para alinhar os dentes da paciente e
somente encaminhou a mesma para um serviço
de diagnóstico e cirurgia, quando a paciente
teve exacerbação da dor na boca irradiando
para a face. Conclui-se que os profissionais
que atenderam a paciente apresentaram
desconhecer os sinais e sintomas do câncer
de boca com manifestação na língua.

Abstract:
The tongue is considered the
most common place of manifestation of oral
cancer. This malignancy of the mouth affects
more men than women and needs early
diagnosis. Among the main etiological factors
are smoking and alcoholism. The aim of this
report was to describe a clinical case of a 44
year-old female leukoderma, who was affected
by tongue cancer. It was important to note that
the patient sought a dental surgeon as soon as
she noticed the appearance of the lesion and
the professional indicated it to an orthodontist
because she related the appearance of the
lesion on the tongue with a dental trauma.
The orthodontist began treatment to align the
patient’s teeth and only referred the patient
to a diagnostic and surgery service when the
patient experienced exacerbation of mouth pain
radiating to the face. It was concluded that the
professionals who attended the patient were not
aware of the signs and symptoms of oral cancer
with manifestation in the tongue.
