CARACTERIZAÇÃO SOCIOECONÔMICA E EXPECTATIVAS PROFISSIONAIS DOS ACADÊMICOS DE MEDICINA EM INSTITUIÇÕES DE ENSINO SUPERIOR PÚBLICA E PRIVADA
Apesar da faculdade de Medicina ser um dos cursos mais concorridos do Brasil e o sonho da grande maioria dos estudantes do ensino médio, a formação desse profissional é considerada como fator primordial para a qualidade em saúde e, portanto, motivo de grande preocupação. Ainda que existam alguns estudos descrevendo o perfil desses acadêmicos, não foi encontrada nenhuma pesquisa comparando as suas características entre instituições públicas e privadas, objetivo deste estudo. Os resultados foram obtidos através da aplicação de um questionário dividido em três partes: caracterização socioeconômica, acadêmica e as expectativas profissionais dos estudantes de diferentes instituições de ensino superior (IES), privada, mista e pública. Foram obtidas 265 respostas e perceberam-se mais semelhanças do que discrepâncias entre os acadêmicos das diferentes IES. Entre as diferenças, observa-se que a maioria dos alunos da instituição pública cursaram o ensino médio em escolas particulares e que os alunos das instituições privada e mista vislumbram maiores salários. Em todas as IES predominaram similaridade quanto à idade, à renda salarial média, à hegemonia feminina e a pessoas da etnia branca. Ademais, suas preferências profissionais foram em relação à cirurgia e à clínica médica. É invariável que os principais fatores que levaram esses acadêmicos à escolha pela faculdade de Medicina sejam primordialmente o compromisso social e o retorno financeiro. Destaca-se, ainda, que é unânime o desejo por vínculo ao sistema único de saúde (SUS).

Abstract:
Despite the fact that the medical college is one of the most popular courses in Brazil and the dream of the vast majority of high school students, the training of this professional is considered a key factor for quality in health and, therefore, a matter of great concern. Although there are some studies describing the profile of these academics, no research was found comparing their characteristics between public and private institutions, the aim of this study. The results were obtained through the application of a questionnaire divided into three parts: socioeconomic, academic and professional expectations of students from different higher education institutions (HEI), private, mixed and public. 265 responses were obtained and more similarities than discrepancies were noticed between academics from different HEIs. Among the differences, it is observed that most students from public institutions attended high school in private schools, and students from private and mixed institutions expect higher salaries. In all HEIs, there was a predominance of similarity in terms of age, average wage income, female and white ethnic hegemony. In addition, his professional preferences were in relation to surgery and clinical medicine. It is invariable that the main factors that led these students to choose the medical school are primarily social commitment and financial return. It is also noteworthy that the desire for a link to the Unified Health System (SUS) is unanimous.
