Abstract: Due to population growth and technological development in recent years, there is a need to improve the country's energy efficiency. Given this scenario, it is desirable to seek alternatives to reduce the deterioration of transmission lines. Aluminum has become the most widely used material for electricity transmission and distribution lines because its excellent conductivity-to-weight ratio allows utilities to use more wires with fewer support structures; however, aluminum does not have high mechanical strength. Given this, a study was conducted on the characteristics of alloy 6101 solidified in a U-shaped metal die mold, taking into account the chemical composition, macrostructure, and electrical and mechanical properties. The results demonstrated that the cast alloy presented a mixed macrostructure composed of equiaxed grains in the central region of the piece and columnar grains near the edges. The alloy achieved an excellent correlation between electrical conductivity and tensile strength (TSL), exceeding the minimum values of the Pará state energy company (COPEL).
