Abstract: The characterization of waste in the Compost Barn (CB) system is essential to optimize composting and waste treatment in confined animal facilities. The composition of the bedding, formed by materials rich in carbon and animal waste, triggers a continuous composting process. This process is influenced by various variables, including the characteristics of the waste and residues used in the bedding composition. In light of this need, the objective of this study was to characterize the solid and liquid residues produced in CB facilities, based on data available in the literature. The characterization presented in this study can provide a basis for the design of structures for the treatment of solid and liquid waste, aiming to meet the needs of CB facilities. However, it is worth noting that the values presented vary according to the type of management and the composition of the bedding and animal nutrition.
