CARACTERIZAÇÃO DA PESCA ESPORTIVA OCE NICA DE PEIXES-DE-BICO (XIPHIOIDEI, ISTIOPHORIDAE) EM SÃO PAULO, BRASIL (1996 - 2014)
No Brasil, os primeiros registros de torneios da pesca esportiva oceânica, com foco na captura dos peixes-de-bico, datam de 1963. Com intuito de caracterizar esta atividade no Estado de São Paulo, analisou-se dados de 1996 a 2014 de torneios promovidos pelo Yacht Club de Ilhabela. Os peixes mais capturados foram o agulhão-vela, agulhão-negro e em menor quantidade o agulhão-branco. O número de peixes marcados e liberados apresentou aumento gradativo. A distribuição das espécies em relação ao local, mês e horário de captura, foram distintas para os agulhões vela e negro, corroborando com estudos nos oceanos Atlântico e Pacífico. A dinâmica da pesca é direcionada para os agulhões vela ou para o negro, sendo o agulhão-branco uma espécie de captura incidental assessoria. O artigo caracterizou de forma abrangente a atividade da pesca esportiva oceânica no Estado de São Paulo, apontando informações para a conservação dos peixes-de-bico, fornecendo subsídios para a avaliação de estoque

Abstract:
In Brazil, the first records of oceanic sport fishing championships, focusing the billfish catches dates to 1963. Aiming to describe this activity in the State of Sao Paulo, there has been analyzed Ilhabela’s Yacht Club’s data from 1996 to 2014. The most caught fish are the sailfish, blue marlin and, in smaller amounts the white marlin. The quantity of tagged and released fish has shown gradual increase. The species distribution according to place, month and time of the catch were different for the sailfish and blue marlin, what confirming the studies in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The dynamics targets these two fishes, what makes the white marlin a by-catch. This article described comprehensively the sport fishery activity in the State of Sao Paulo, indicating information for billfish conservation, and providing subvention to the stock evaluation.
