CARACTERÍSTICAS E EPISTEMOLOGIA DA GEOGRAFIA GREGA
Nos primórdios das civilizações, a Geografia possuía uma finalidade puramente prática, tais conhecimentos vernaculares eram empregados pelos povos primitivos para fins de subsistência, sobrevivência e desenvolvimento dos agrupamentos humanos. Essas civilizações eram conhecidas como ‘civilizações axiais’. Contudo, é somente durante o período da Antiguidade que se tem as primeiras sistematizações dos saberes geográficos. Nessa época, é impreterível reconhecer a importância das contribuições do pensamento filosófico da civilização grega, dita ‘civilização diagonal’, que serviram de sustentações para a fundamentação epistemológica do pensamento geográfico e posterior reconhecimento enquanto Ciência. Um dos principais feitos da civilização grega para a Geografia foi de promover a primeira unificação desse conhecimento subdividindo-o em Geografia Geral e Geografia Especial. Dito isso, o objetivo do estudo é compreender a organização, desenvolvimento e características da civilização grega analisando suas principais fundamentações filosóficas que contribuíram para a epistemologia da Geografia Grega. Para alcançar esse objetivo, o estudo foi orientado metodologicamente por uma revisão bibliográficas de artigos e livros em distintos idiomas que tratam da temática. Por fim, pôde-se evidenciar a importância da Geografia Grega na construção da Geografia como uma ciência.

Abstract:
In the beginnings of civilizations, Geography had a practical purpose. This vernacular knowledge was used by primitive peoples for the purposes of subsistence, survival and development of human groups. These civilizations were known as ‘axial civilizations’. However, it is only during the antiquity period that the first systematizations of geographic knowledge have been carried out. At that time, it is fundamental to recognize the importance of the contributions of the philosophical thought of Greek civilization, called 'diagonal civilization', which served as supports for the epistemological foundation of geographic thought and later recognition as Science. One of the main achievements of Greek civilization for Geography was to promote the first unification of this knowledge by subdividing it into General Geography and Special Geography. The goal of this study is to understand the organization, development and characteristics of Greek civilization by analyzing its main philosophical foundations that contributed to the epistemology of Greek Geography. The study was methodologically oriented by a bibliographic review of articles and books in different languages that deal with the theme. Finally, it was possible to highlight the importance of Greek Geography in the construction of Geography as science.
