Capitão América como representação das relações internacionais dos Estados Unidos na Segunda Metade do Século XX
Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a relação entre as histórias em quadrinhos do Capitão América e o governo norte-americano, considerando o soft power americano nas políticas internacionais, ideologias e discursos patrióticos durante a segunda metade do século XX. Além disso, dependendo da década e contexto sócio-histórico nos Estados Unidos, é possível identificar as motivações por trás da escolha dos vilões e quais as mensagens transmitidas pelas ações do herói. Baseando-se na importância das histórias em quadrinhos como manifestação da cultura pop e no papel do Capitão América como símbolo cultural e político, concluímos que embora a personagem não seja particularmente uma manifestação do soft power, é importante compreender o acesso que o mundo faz às suas histórias, as imagens e os valores que assimilam por conta disso.

Abstract:
This article aims at analyzing the relationship between Captain America comic books and the U.S. government, considering American soft power in international policies, ideologies, and patriotic discourses during the second half of the 20th century. Additionally, depending on the decade and context in the United States, it is possible to identify the motivations behind the choice of villains and the message conveyed by the hero. Based on the significance of comic books as a manifestation of popular culture and the role of Captain America as a cultural and political symbol, we came to the conclusion that even thought the character cannot be described as a manifestation of soft power per se, it is importante to understand the ways in which the world acesses his stories, as well as which imagens and values are thus assimilated.
